The Institut Ramon Llull presents, for the second time, an artistic proposal to showcase Catalan cultural production at the Venice Biennale, the worlds most important contemporary art exhibition. The desideratum is for a project showing the contemporaneity and most avant-garde projects of Catalan art not to be lacking at this unmissable event, beyond the offering of the Giardini and the Arsenale.
For the 53rd edition of the Biennale in 2009, the Institut Ramon Llull presented the project Venezia, Catalunya 2009. The Unavowable Community, curated by Valentn Roma. The exhibition opened on 7 June and closed six months later, on 22 November. We can say without hesitation that it generated great interest in the artistic community, as is attested by the fact that attendance reached over 45,000 people and there was a strong response from critics.
The Institut Ramon Llulls contribution aims to place emphasis on the characteristics of Catalan and Balearic creation on one hand and to offer its critical and innovative vision of (and in) contemporary art on the other.
